Progress with Monkelukast?

ohdearherewegoagain profile image

Having tried all of the inhalers for my asthma and having to use them very sparingly or not at all due to the side effects being so awful, I have now been on monkelukast for about two weeks. It is hard to say if it is working, but I am different. Have some more energy, am less breathless etc. Yet my spiro is only about the same or a bit more than before without any inhalers. The worst thing is feeling so spaced out, very difficult to deal with staff and clients, think straight, remember things, not feel half there. Do not get headaches, there is a little stomach pain but tolerable. Hope you are all feeling well and coping well.

It sounds like some progress is happening. My old asthma nurse put me on monkelaust and she said it either works or it doesn't in two weeks. I did for me. I have allergic asthma (house dust mite) and have been using it with no ill effects for over 2 years.

Do you take it at night? I do some people find in the morning better. Keep going I hope and pray it works for you fully.

Hi there. I take it a few hours before going to bed. It does not make sense to say I am allergic to anything. Its always been about a lack of energy until very recently and then some wheezing coughing etc joined it. Presumably if they take it in the morning its because they feel it is more potent then. ive read that some pepole have had to take it for six weeks before it helped.
