I don't think you can prevent asthma but you can take steps to exacerbating the condition i.e. make sure you take medication as prescribed and try and avoid triggers

Hi no you can’t prevent asthma, but you can take steps to lower the risks of attacks. Like shirl13 said, take your meds as prescribed and avoid triggers. Also attend your annual asthma review and follow your asthma plan (if you don’t have one get it from your asthma nurse/GP).

Generally being active when you’re well as it can bring your baseline up as well as improve your general health.

If you’re pudgy losing weight can help as it allows diaphragm/lungs to work better in general (tho won’t necessarily affect asthma just the general SoB you may get at extremes of pudgy-ness 😅).

There’s minimal evidence for air filters and salt lamps - some find they help, others don’t and it all depends on asthma type/severity etc. Similarly vitamin D and magnesium supplements (and probs a lot more!) - again minimal evidence and may or may not help.

Basically be sensible, look after yourself, get help when you need it and hope that you won’t have too! If in doubt ask for help - GP/asthma nurse/asthma uk/us on here 😅

Hope that helps
