Feeling frustrated

Just been to an out of office dr and they think they simply know everything!

Been coughing all day/ chest feeling rubbish. Then I had chest tightness / breathing fast and painful , slight wheeze. And went to out of office & dr completely disagrees with my consultant opinion on treatment. Spends ages telling me the negatives of using steroids.

I appreciate because it’s really uncommon to be on 200 mg fostair 2 puffs twice a day & 100mg qvar 4 puffs twice a day. I’m aware how high it is, the consultant is trying to get things settled whilst planning what to next re injections and whether I qualify. As with being high dose Inhalers and the my young age being able to compensate and then doing breathing after a period of steroid tablets, the test are always just ok. Even though I’m told there’s a lot of inflammation in my lungs! Which makes me struggle to qualify at the moment!

I appreciate they’re only doing there job but I wouldn’t be there late at night if I didn’t think I needed something. Or if I wasn’t directed on what medication to take from a good specialist in my area.

Sorry to rant!

Oh dear, it’s so frustrating when that happens isn’t.

I do hope you start to feel better soon.

The last time I contacted the OOH doctor the doctor told me I don’t have asthma because they’ve no record of it on their computer.

Strange, seeing as I’m under Royal Brompton Hospital and they say I definitely have asthma.

I was told that the previous time I went to ooh dr. They said stop taking all your medications, and thankfully i did know better!

It’s just like they speak to you as if am self medicating and oblivious to all the risks.

I hope I feel better, but he wouldn’t give me the dose I know works. But a lower dose and told me to stop taking them after 3 days, after 8 yrs I know that doesn’t work & has left me needing back to back doses to get back under control

What irresponsible advice. Good you know better than to follow it.

With all my ups and downs with my asthma the one thing my consultant has always banged on about is getting it under control first, settling it down so that he can then starts a treatment that will taper down my meds , my problem in the past has been that I think I'm better then reduce my meds, the doctors do know what's best but not all doctors experiances/ abilities are the same, just hope you get one who's on the ball
