I've woken with a tight chest a couple of mornings and the hazel catkins and thus pollen is already out near where I live. Apparently it cross reacts if you are allergic to birch pollen, which I am. Alder pollen is similar.

It’s a bit much when the weather’s still freezing and we’re not even out of cold/chest infection season.

Luckily I'm steering clear so far but no doubt it's on its way. There's a surprising amount of stuff throwing pollen around at this time of year, so you might pick up a clue as to what your allergy is:

Cheers, that’s helpful. There are a bunch of elm trees on my road, guess they’re the culprit.

Unfortunately, it seems so. Despite taking my medications early this year I've got an alternating stuffy/runny nose, itchy eyes and a sore throat from post-nasal drip.

I've also caught a stomach bug so am not very impressed all around.

Yes, for the past week - tree pollen I think. I'm taking antihistamine now and will do for the forseeable.

Hi lucia_m

It is indeed tree pollen time. There's a useful pollen calendar here that shows the different types of pollen throughout the season: bit.ly/pollen1

Hope that helps,

Dita

Yes unfortunately & it’s worse than usual for this time of year, on montelukast, antihistamine, dymista nasal spray & upped my fostair to 200, due to see the asthma specialist in 3 weeks. Not sure that taking Grazax daily is helping, I usually have a good winter but it’s not been the case this year because of it. Oh well it is what it is.
