Back on prednisone and discovered I have a virus.

I have a job interview on Monday, so I spurred my usually avoidant arse down to the doctors surgery.

After a few days of one good blow and then two terrible ones, my peak flow was amber for Wednesday and I kept waking up having dreamt I couldn't breathe only to find... I really did have problems, okay (but generally near the lower green) yesterday and dropped down to amber once today.

So naturally, I didn't really want to go and left it until 4pm to call. The receptionist at the surgery, kept asking me if I was sure I could make it in (it's still snowmageddon up here). I'm not too far away, so I assured them I could walk.

We talked about potentially doing a 7 day course, but then when he did all the testing he realised I had high temperature and hadn't noticed I had a virus. So I'm trying 5 days instead as I need to be as well as possible (including well slept) for Monday.

I hadn't seen that doctor before, but he didn't comment on the fact I don't wheeze and didn't mind that my peak flow was back up post-ventolin. In fact, he made a point of saying that you can feel bad before you peak flow drops twice and that the most important thing is knowing your body and how you progress rather than tests.

So, quite a relieving trip in all.

Good to hear that you have a great GP. With asthma, I have discovered that if I don't keep on top of my health I can end up ill quickly indeed! Also, peak flow is no substitute for how you feel and I don't always wheeze either. Don't worry about bugging your GP. He would rather you stay healthy than end up really ill.
