My daughter was 2/3 when doctor decided she may be asthmatic, we were originally given just a blue Ventolin but she seemed to get worst, they gave her an inhaler (brown) to take everyday twice in morning and twice in the evening.. We weren't given much information on asthma at this time.. Eventually it took a hospital inpatient for her asthma to be taken seriously, she is now on two inhalers, liquid medicine and tablet which seems to work and oral steroids when she has asthma attacks. It took us a long while to understand her asthma, we rang the asthma uk line and spoke to one of their nurses which educated us so much on asthma and how it can be very different for every child, they also stated what medications she could try and what to ask the doctor.. Don't worry about making a fuss we were fobbed off by a lot of doctors but eventually she was given the right meds to control her asthma. Take her to her gp if you think it is getting worst there is a lot they can give you, its frightening as a parent. I find especially this time of year my daughter suffers because of the colder nights.. Hope you baby feels better soon...

My son was 10mths old when he was first given medicine for Asthma, it got much worse as he got older. However by the time he was 14 it started getting better and over a couple of years he grew out of it entirely. He’ll be 34 in Feb. and he’s a big strapping rugby coach now. Hope your wee girl is doing good xx

Yes, my son & my granddaughter. Little one is now six. She's had far too many antibiotics since baby hood. This time of year is always worse. The cold air sets Daisy off, closing her airways plus running about.

IMO it's vital to keep their immune systems healthy with extra vitamins - especially D3, nowadays with the liberal use of sunscreen in summer & wrapped up in winter little ones don't get enough via skin. I and Daisy take prebiotic daily as well as live plain yogurt. Good probiotics available online, even in powder form for babies & toddlers. Check out the copious reviews on Amazon to choose a reputable supplier.

Very hard to do at this age but try to protect her from catching other toddlers coughs and colds. It's not pleasant but flu vaccine is important - again, my opinion.

Wishing the best, P

Hi rebecca29

As mentioned on the thread, do call the Asthma UK helpline on 0300 222 5800 (M-F, 9-5) and speak to one of the nurse specialists for any advice and support.

Hope that helps,

Dita
