Prednisolone dose

Hi everyone, just recovering from pneumonia again. Currently on 10mg of Prednisolone and I think the time has come for stage 4 regimen. What dose is everyone on at stage 4, what would an acceptable dose seem to be? Thanks in advance x

Are you talking about being on stage 4 of asthma treatment where consultant care is required? I never had pheuomia so can't comment on this. What is theadvice you were given when prescripted prednisone? I presume you were on antibiotics too. If you have been on steroids less than 3 weeks then coming off should be simple but over 3 weeks is harder as you can see from my post.

Best advice talk to your doctor tomorrow or if you consider this is an emergency then there is 111.

Thanks so much, I have an excellent chest physician looking after me but sadly I’ve been on Prednisolone now for a month so things are obviously a’changin’!! I’m much better though and thank you x

Just before I was diagnosed with pneumonia I was on 30mg of prednisolone. But once admitted to hospital and correctly diagnosed they took me off the steroid straight away. I did have sepsis with it so perhaps that was why as steroids affect your immunity . Recently I had another flare up with my asthma triggered by exposure to a viral respiratory infection, and the dose was higher at 40mg which took 4 days to calm my chest down.

I have severe asthma and i take pred for a month when I have a flare up, I taper as per advice from cons seems to work well for me. I used to have 5 days of 40mg.
