Really struggling

I just want to know if anyone finds themselves in a similar situation of never really feeling 'under control'

I have allergy related asthma, sinus issues etc - since June I've had various anti biotics, one course of steroids and my inhalers also taking anti histamine.

I now have nose drops and doing sinus rinsing too but I Still cough so much! I had a week with no coughing and this week it's terrible again.

I have to say I'm pretty lax at taking the anti hestiamines as before it never really helped - I guess I'm looking for any advice on making it better quickly!

The one thing that has massively improved over time is the amount on mucuous!

Advice on things that have worked or similar experiences! X

I am using a steroid nasal spray for the last 6 days to stop a nasal drip and cough. It will be 2 weeks before I know its really work.

Hi

Have you tried different antihistamine? I am in fexofenadine changing to that really helped. I also have a hepa air purifier on. I don't know what your allergies are, and so many of them are unavoidable but I try to keep on top of the avoiding the things I can.

Another thing that helped was a couple of years ago swapping round a few meds - montelukast to zafirlukast, symbicort to relvar elipta. Swapped one at a time. If you ve been on same meds for a while might be worth asking GP if any are worth changing?

My asthma is possibly rarely far from a flare up but much better than it was a couple of years ago.

Hope you feel better soon xxx

Thank you for your advice!

I think I'll check with GP - he did say no other anti histamines available?!

I just take over the counter ones?

One day I'm fine (yesterday) today's I've got a wheezy cough non stop! It's so draining never being cough free?! X

Montelukast can help with the allergy side of asthma, so can fexofenadine(which comes in a high strength), also Spiriva Respimat can help if all the above still isn't enough. Also, always put Vaseline on inside of your nostrils to help stop allergens being breathed in, change clothes when you get home if you've been around lots of allergens, always dampen/wash hair before going to bed so that you don't have allergens on your hair which then go on your pillow you'd then breathe in as you sleep. I still suffer as I'm allergic to sooo many things, but the above all helps calm it down. Hope that helps x

Thank you so much!

Are all the above prescribed meds?

My doc keeps telling me I can only take normal anti hestiamines!! So futstrating as my sinuses are agony and coughing non stop! Love the Vaseline tip! X
