I'm gutted I asked GP back in June if my son asthma was because of reflux I was told no!
from researching CVA and gerd i now know they can coexist, I've bought silicol gel from Holland and Barratt and within 2 days all the dry hacking coughing and pulling in off his chest as stopped, I'm still given him asthma inhalers but stopped the allergy tablet.
I can't understand why they GP just said I don't know what wrong with him asthma treatment not working or antihistamine, why didn't she try reflux medication.
consultant gave steroid tablets and changed inhaler but still he coughed!
if I hadn't tried reflux medication he would still be coughing.
if you can control reflux or allergies you control the asthma.

That's terrible that the GP didn't at least consider the connection! I have GERD since having my second child and I take a daily tablet for reflux. I still need the antihistamines and the daily steroids, but I know that if my reflux is bad, the coughing is worse. Best of luck to your son. x
I'm very surprised the GP didn't even consider the possibility; you could always ask to see a different GP and get a second opinion.
