Getting off Oxygen?

I've been on a high dosage of oxygen for quite a few years, 4 liters. I have chronic bronchitis and am trying to get off oxygen. When sitting still, I can get to about 85 to 88, but when I walk around, even slowly, it goes down to 68, but then once seated, it goes up again. How can I train myself to stay off the oxygen?

You can't is the simple answer. That is unless you can get so fit you don't need as much. Some breathing exercises might help to bring your oxygen level up a bit. There are lots online.

Even when seated your sats are right on the edge of dangerous and I can't see how you could possibly make the ones moving about high enough to come off. x

Thanks for your suggestions. I was in the hospital with pneumonia a few years ago and the doctor said if it would stay around 88 that would be fine, so I see your point. I just have to keep trying.

Hi, I know this may seem a bit new-agey considering your medically supervised condition but I wonder if you might benefit from beetroot powder capsules (I seem to mention them in all my posts, should start a topic one day). I am convinced that beetroot has helped me when out and about and in planned excursions like house-moves etc.! The evidence seems good that beetroot above most foodstuffs improves oxygen efficiency. There may be a reduction in blood clotting though (many good-for-you things thin the blood). Examine dot com has useful data.

When looking into the Buteyko breathing method versus the Wim Hof method (which I fear could initially provoke asthma symptoms), I stumbled on a site about someone called Ray Peat - I haven't really checked it out but the forum guys seem very interested in things like SATS etc., (about which I'm rather ignorant), raypeatforum dot com.

I hope this is of some use, cheers, Ollie.

Thank you so much, Ollie. Since I am from the good ole USA (cough, cough), I have no insurance and cannot afford to visit the doctor often as I used to. Also the pulmonologists I visited when I was married and under husband's insurance now will not even see me because I have no insurance. I am very interested in natural methods also. I had never heard of breathing exercises before another nice person mentioned them, so I'm going to look into those as well. I am planning to move to Australia next year and want so much to improve my health first.
