Evening all ... Hope your all as well as can be .

A question for all those on xolair. I had my 1st injection just over a week ago and this week I've noticed I've had a headache daily and also aching ankles ??

Wondering if this is a common side affect ? And is there any other side affects people have had

Thanks in advance . Mark

On the day of my injections, I get 4 at maximum dose of 600mg I'm very tired with no energy. I've been on them 2 years now and tbh don't really feel they helped.

When I said this to the nurse she was snotty about it saying think what you'd be like without them!! Well I'm 54, a nurse myself and feel no improvement, still on steroids periodically, after 2 years on them permanently to get into xolair.

I am now obese have developed lumps on my back which are only fatty) cos long term Xolair risk skin cancer) if you read up- but as a nurse I research everything. Tbh looking back my asthma was uncontrollable and still is, take Ventolin 5/6 times a day and 2 weeks ago doctors charged my symbicort 400/12 to DuoResp Spiromax after a call from a pharmacist which I'm not happy about.

When I read all the positive things about xolair I was over the moon to get it but often think my health is much worse in the last couple of years could it be that?? Or long term steroids?? So many things affecting me now that I'm unsure if it's damage from the long term Prednisolone or just aging and my general health as I'm very overweight.

I do want it to work as my Ige was 1845 with sensitive to Aspergillus as well as lots of other allergies but paid privately for second opinion at James Cook and he did lots blood work, and said stay on it, so I did, and still am however asthma is worse with DuoResp Spiromax high dose same as symbicort 400 supposedly.

Good luck, if they are the only side effects bear with it, lots of people not on here but the Internet say positive things about it. I just wish it was like that for me, I only stay on it cos nurse said think what you'd be like without it! Good luck

Hi Mark, my student son doesn't have any side effects. He's been on Xolair for nearly 2 years. Are your symptoms listed as possible side effects?

I suppose you have to weigh up the possible benefit of Xolair against the side effects. Hope Xolair helps you. I think my son noticed an improvement after about 3 months, he has the injections every 28 days. Let us know how you get on.

The main side effects is pain around the injection sites. I am also aware of a small percentage of patients that report no energy following injections. Painful joints and headache is not something I have come across before so I think you will have to see if this settles down. Ultimately, if they persist and are intolerable you will probably need to stop the 16 week trial unfortunately

I been on xolair for 4 years and it had changed my life around. The headache and joint pains are common with xolair, you have just had the first dose so it will take a while for your body to get use to the med. Have you told your medical team about this, they need to be aware of any side effects you get. I use to get swollen face for the first day and a few days after the injection. As time went on, that reduced and then disappeared. I still get the fatigue and weakness from the xolair which is why they do advise to have 48/72 hour resting time with little to no major activities or anything strenuous.
