Did your GP take a sputum sample to ascertain the best antibiotic to use? It may be a good idea.

Hi Hucky

You need to go back to the GP tomorrow. Have you been on steroids as well? You need the steroids to dry out the mucus so the antibiotics can work. Take care Hucky.

You must take time to talk through your symptoms thoroughly with the GP. If you feel s/he is no help you can ask to be referred to a consultant. There may be lifestyle changes you can make to reduce your risk of infections, and there may be different antibiotics which are stronger and deal with the infections better. You will feel weak after an infection so you need to take care of yourself and not rush the healing process. Don't give up now - keep turning up at that doctor's until you are better!
