Anyone else have this due to steroid use?

I have a degree of osteopoenia but it is more due to a restrictive eating disorder than steroids. Have you heard of the Osteoporosis Society? They are a bit like asthma UK and offer advice and support around osteoporosis and related problems. Might be worth giving them a ring or looking at the website.

I have osteoporosis - the more advanced stage of osteopenia from long term steroids... it can be controlled and reversed with various meds.

I hope they have given you calcium and Vit D tablets as well as the fosamax.

Fosamax - please follow the instructions very carefully. I have had it in the past but now have a 6 monthy injection to help with my bone loss.

Please be glad they have picked it up!

Kate

I have significant osteoporosis and have yearly IV infusions. I can't over emphasise enough what Kate has said about following the instructions for fosamax. Its VERY important, to avoid damage to your oesophagus. And as Kate has said, hopefully they have also given you a calcium and vitamin D supplement such as AdCal or similar. Its great that they have picked it up at this stage before you develop osteoporosis.

I know it is hard when health feels like it is out of our control. I'm sorry you're feeling so down. It might be worth talking to your GP about how you're feeling.

It is good that they have caught it early, as there are things that can be done to stop it progressing or improve it.

Agree about the Adcal/D3 or similar supplement.

Take care
