I attend Royal Brompton Hospital for my asthma.

You can get your GP to refer you, they do take private patients as well. Prof Fan Chung charges £250 for an initial consultation and £200 for a follow up.

GP can refer, they do have a private section but also an NHS section. I think it's often on a consultant's suggestion after they've got stuck but GP does referral and they will look at all notes (though RBH waited 2 months till my first appt to say they needed the notes - I was not impressed as thought they should have perhaps got them before ie when they knew I'd been referred, to save everyone's time? I was not impressed with various aspects of the admin there!)

I have to say I was not that impressed by them in general and am now seeing someone at another, 'non-specialist' place which I have found better overall (they were the ones who sent me to RBH to begin with but tbh they also have a good rep for respiratory and allergy and I prefer them overall so I went back to them.

BUT I also know some people on here have found the Brompton really good and extremely helpful - it may depend on who you see, what your asthma is like etc. I will say the physio was really really good, but I never felt like much was happening otherwise. I am not that severe, though seem to have got worse recently (still many others on here with worse asthma, mine is more weird and uncontrolled atm though I have had some admissions).

I guess I'll leave it there and hopefully someone who's had a good experience with them will chip in and you can see both sides and weigh things up.
