Deet and asthma

I react very badly to insect bites so I have to put on Deet if I go outside in our garden. Whilst it is obvious that the smell could make anyone cough, I am wondering how much it contributes to my lung problem in the summer and am wondering if anyone knows if Deet can set off an asthma attack ?
