i have problems with allergies and havent been diagnosed with asthma but i have been given a ventolin blue inhaler.......it seems to be making my throat and mouth sore.
is there anything i can do to help this as the inhaler is working on my allergies!?

there are a few things that you could try. make sure that you wash out your inhaler regularly as advised in the medication leaflet. also it might help to use a spacer device. if that is the case also wash that out regularly as per instructions. but most importantly try swilling your mouth out with water immediately after you use the inhaler (when and where this is possible). alternatively you could ask your doctor about different inhalation devices (diskus; turbohaler etc) and/or different meds that would have a similarly beneficial effect on the allergies.
for a quick and cheap spacer device try piercing the bottom of a plastic cup. insert inhaler into hole. close top around mouth to breathe in.

I second Rose's advice about using a spacer and rinsing afterwards, it makes a huge difference - and also gets more medication into your airways rather than deposited in your mouth

sadly a few weeks on the tightness in my chest is less but i'm still coughing!
its driving me mental, back to the GP today 
You could ask them about trialling an antihistamine such as telfast 180 to see if that improves your allergy symptoms. Hope you get on okay

thought i'd keep u updated from my visit to the GP...... they think i have asthma which is being triggered by allergies. i have been given a brown inhaler to use along side the blue one and have to keep peakflow readings for another month (just did 2 weeks prior to this visit) also been given a spacer, which i'm not sure i'm using right?

I hope the preventor works for you and you can get rid of the coughing and tight chest. And if you're not sure about anything then just ask on the forum or phone the asthma nurses
when I first got my brown inhaler my cough was very bad
it did take 3 days of use to notice a difference
within 10 days the cough had gone
so hang in there and get well soon
In fact Joan im surprised it only took 3 days for you to notice a difference. Every inhaler and every person are different but i think many preventers can take 3 weeks or even a month before they reach full potentiel.
So yup hang on in there and i do hope things improve for you soon!
