the shakes

Hi all, Does any one get the shakes in their hands from their meds? I'm only on 4 puffs a day of symbicort 200/6 and salbutamol when needed but I seem to have really bad shakes in my hands most of the day. Could this be the meds or is it something else????? Just wondered if it happened to anyone else?

Hi Smithy,

I get teh shakes too you're not alone! For me it tends to be when I use a lot of ventolin, so had assumed it was that, not sure if the LABA or steroids could have same effect - I'm on seretide.

hi all,

I also get ""the shakes"" along with a large headache but only after having a ventolin neb

Pete

I get really bad shakes at times too - so try and get other people to carry trays or drinks in cafes etc and at home I try and remember not to fill cups and glasses too full as I often tip a bit out cause of my shaky hands. It affects me a lot when I have a lot of ventolin, but I am also on seretide and steroids - so not sure if its a combination of all of them!

I used to get dreadful shakes, a raised heart rate and very agitated when taking ventolin ( I thought I was going to have a heart attack). I switched to Bricanyl and only have mild tremor now and not always. I think it may be a case of which med suits you best. The same thing happens if I am given adrenalin in local anaesthetic at the Dentist. Needless to say they don't give me that anymore. I would have a word with your GP/Nurse and see if they can suggest something else.

Good Luck

Yvonne

Yep, I shake too. Just bought some drinking straws for work to save my desk/keyboard! Somebody on here suggested trying to not take salbutamol on an empty stomach. Obviously not always practical but I have found it does sometimes help (not that I was really needing any excuses to eat more!).
