Are there any ""Breathe Easy"" types of varnish???

Foolishly decided to varnish a door yesterday and it caused me no end of coughing/vomiting problems yesterday evening-despite opening windows etc-hence the above query.

Water based varnish, I have used it, and okay. But what I would say, that from experience, water based glosses and varnishes are not as hard wearing. Did you wear a mask, might be a good idea for the future. Alternative get some other mug to do it for you.

I find that those commercially available masks dont really stop vapours, but I think I will have a look for the water based varnish and will live with the lack of quality rather than being sick,
