Some advice you might find useful.

Hiyaa,

like me, you probably joined seeking advice, hints, tips but then i thought, if most of the topics are asking for help, then shouldn't there be one, which is entirely dedicated to giving it ??

so i think it would help, well, all of us really, if you had a good, tip anything at all that might be in any way useful then please post it on here for others to see,

i'll start with a couple of mine :)

1. Icelollies and ice-cream, they really help cool down my wind-pipe and sometimes find them more effective than my inhalers can be.

2. respiritry nurses, mine is amazing, she made more sence in one hour, than the whole month doctors spent trying to explain to me, i find it helps to have someone who is a specialist in one subjct rather than abit of knowledge all round.

3.If you've taken alot of ventolin nd feel really run-down and like you're about to collapse chocolate milkshakes are the way forawrd and they ttaste good.

please post your tips for the rest of us

megg :) x

hi megg,

I have icecreams and icy poles when im all inflamed usualy a minty magum.

Scarf round neck in winter.

Books to hire bed at your head are better than 2 pillows you get no stiff neck.

Made my house a no smoke zone as both of my sons girlfriends smoke so have them outside.

I always have a power nap in the day and a banana milk shake keep me going a bit as always tired with asthma xxx

I find if I am doing something relaxing, like watching tv, when I take my inhalers I tend to be able to get a deeper breath and hold longer as I'm focusing on my breathing less and so less worried

My asthma nurse is fabulous and fantastic and deserves a medal...recently she called me every day to check on progress and thanks to her advise i avoided a dreaded stay in hospital after a common cold went to my chest!

She always remains calm and talks to me even if i can not talk back and a key point is short shallow breaths- inhaler- short shallow breaths- i say it to myself now when family members panick!

scarf over mouth so airways are warmerin winter ! that helps too- i'll do some thinking this evening!

thanks for the good comments guys :)

keep them coming,

also, when having an attack, and findyour self paniking, put 1 hand on your chest and the other on your belly, and when breathing, make sure your belly is movung not the top of yur chest, this shows that yuor breathing to the bottom of your lungs, and it also works well for taking inhalers, brathing like that shows that you got in all through your lungs :)

megg x
