according to this report, some of the many chemicals included can and do have an impact on health, and affect asthmatics.

Depends whether you drench yourself in it. Also the brand.

I'm finding a touch of Chanel is ok.

I think Perfume has lots of hidden and not so hidden health risks

Perfume is my arch enemy in the office. Lots of people I work near spray their perfume several times a day. By the end of the day I'm coughing like crazy.

The worst for me is Chanel no. 5. I love the smell of the stuff, but one whiff of it is enough to make me cough to the point I nearly wet myself!

I hate it when the smokers come in from having a smoke and then spray loads of perfume on themselves in the lift to try and cover it up. On days I can't manage to walk down the stairs I worry about trying to go home and if I can hold my breath for long enough to take the lift. It's crazy.

thanks for this I'd noticed that my symptoms were worse the last few days and i've been wearing perfume for once. Had never connected the two because usually if something disagrees with me it makes me sneeze like crazy as well! I'll try cutting out and see how it goes. cheers for helping me notice!

I love perfume but it definitely seems to trigger my asthma. I find that the muskier scents make me cough like mad.

I would like to see the UK Asthma Association due a large compaign to bring about the public's awareness of health risk caused from perfume. When I first moved to Scotland I had a very hard time with the amount of perfume being worn by women. At church, at work, everywhere! I meantioned it to a lady at church and I wasn't even referring to her asking her advise as to what I should do as we were in such a small closed area. She replied defensively that her husband bought her this perfume and she can only wear it on Sunday and she is not about to stop.

I think people just are not aware.

I moved from Canada and was back recently and there are notices on hospitals, doctors offices, churches, many meeting places that request people not wear perfume or colgnes.

It would be great if that would happen here as well.

Thanks

i never for some reason considered perfume a trigger although there is a connection with my odd attacks and aerosol's i.e. hairspray and air freshner.
