Papworh hospital

just wondering if anyone goes to papworth hospital ive been refered there and just wondering what it was like and what to expect really x

With being ventilated every month and spending 2 weeks out of every 4 in hospital I would have thought they would throw every test and thing possible at you, most I guess you will have had in the past but doing them in one batch and looking at the results collectively might help them get a handle on what must be an impossible situation for you and your family. I have not heard of Papworth being one of the ""big"" asthma research hospitals. Personally I would have asked for the Royal Brompton or as you are in Staffs I guess Heartlands would have been another option.

thanks for your reply i already go to heartlands and am under the brittle asthma team there. but because i have bronciectasis aswell which is making my asthma more unstable they are refering me to papworth as everyone is running out of ideas a last ditch attempt i guess x

I have difficult asthma and bronchiectasis. I am very lucky with the consultant I have as he follows what RBH would do re treatment. Ive also been to Southaptom mainly for my allergies but they were excellent with advice on all aspects astma allergoes and bronchiectasis. They are doing various research projects re bronch x and infections but if I was looking for specilist help I would go to the Royal Brompton as you have top specialists in both fields. I cant think of the proffs name at RBH for bronchiectasis but I know from friends that go there hes excellent.

There is a bronchiectasis site that I use to belong to but it mainly consisted of members from other parts of the world although we all were using similar treatment plans. If you are interested in the site pm me and I will try and find the link.

I I havent come across anyone who has been to papworth as Bex said most seem to go RBH or Heartlands and sometimes Southampton.
