I am a asthmatic and i have had numerous chest infections, for the past 3 years i have had a chest infection nearly every month, so i have taken an awful lot of antibiotics and steroids , when i ask docs they say its normal for us to have infections as we have bad chests , don't no if this helps i think it sucks but i cant help it so i have to put up with it .

Sounds familiar!

I have a chest infection every 3-4 weeks and usually end up with 2 weeks oabs at a time and have been on continual steroids for 11 months. It's obviously just another pleasure we have!!!

Hi, I need a bit of advice.

I'm not sure if i have a chest infection, I have looked on the internet but don't have all the symptons.

I have chest Pains, feel a bit dizzy and tired, and more breathless than usual.

I know it's nothing seriuos as i've had the symptons before but usually it's from stress and goes, but i've had it for two days now.

Help!

Advice reqd.

I was ill from Christmas until late Jan with a lung infection, which finally went after 2 lots of strong antibiotics and then at long last 5 days of prednisolone. My mum got a cold last week and by Friday I had a sore throat and then on Saturday I woke with a full blown cold and barking my asthmatic cough again and feeling awful.

I'm fed up and don't know whether to go back to the docs.

Help.

Asthma UK's forums are for debate and discussion. Especially, they are not a suitable place to obtain medical advice in an emergency. If you feel unwell or need advice in an emergency situation, help should be obtained from one of the following sources:

Your local GP service - either your surgery, or, if closed, the local out-of-hours centre; some regions also have NHS Walk-In Centres

NHS Direct - a nurse-led advice line which can provide medical advice, or call an ambulance if needed - telephone 0845 46 47

Dialling 999 for an emergency ambulance, or by going to your local Accident & Emergency department.

Asthma UK's own guidance for what to do in an asthma attack - see the main web site.

Thank you Kate, you can always be relied upon to give exactly the right advice.

Can I just reiterate to Jen1968 and Jennauk1987 that this is a DISCUSSION forum and is not an appropriate or safe place to seek specific medical advice. We do not know your medical history and cannot see you or properly assess you, so we cannot possibly safely advise you. If you have any concerns, please see your own GP or the out of hours service, or go to A&E.
