uniphyllin?

anyone on this drug?? i got put on it only on wednesday and would really like to know if anyone gets side effects?

I take uniphyllin and have done for quite a few years now. Its a type of theophylline which is in the same group of medicines as Aminophylline (which is sometimes given as an IV in hospital). It is a type of bronchodilator that should help open up your airways.

There can be some side effects with it, especially when you first start taking it, you may feel sick or have a fast heart rate and it can give you headaches, but these usually pass after a short time of taking it. Also because with this medicine there is quite a small therapeutic window it is important to have regular blood tests to check that your levels are within the right range, not too low or too high, it can take some tweeking at the beginning to find the optimum dose. If you experience severe side-effects you should see your dr to have a blood test to check that the levels of theophylline in your blood is not too high. For me this medicine has worked really well, both in helping to keep me more stable and when I am ill having it IV has really helped.
