amanda, do you mean fostair???

its a steroid inhaler x

if it is fostair, its quite a new very good preventer inhaler, good amount of steroid in it.

i was recommended by another hosp to use it cos of the higher steroid level in it, but resp cons wouldnt let me! started arguement lol.

used for severe asthma, hard to control asthma

as with all preventers, remember rinse mouth after use :)

good luck with it and hope it works in helping reducing your symptoms as i know u hard rough time lately!

yeah thats what i mean.

Yeah im on a 2week trial of it

should notice some improvement after few days if it gonna work, defo within ur 2 week trial . . .

yeah im fed up of my asthma and i told her this she said straight away it would get me fed up. Im hopeful that it works as i been told im having too much reliver a day

new inh = less symptoms = less use of reliever = happy amanda :)

xx

i like that :)

I have fostair as one of my preventers Amanda. The pink one! Consultant was pretty confident about it when she prescribed it. Good luck with it x

thanks im hoping it works my asthma nurse only gives it to bad cases

Can I just ask whether this is used as an alternative to Seretide - does it do the same thing or is it just a steroid without the other part added?

fostair is a combination inhaler : similar to seretide yes.

whereas seretide contains serevent and fluticasone, the fostair inhaler ;

it contains beclomethasone (steroid) and formeterol (long acting beta-agonist) though the amounts differ and works in the similar way as the SMART regime, i think...

Sorry for all the questions but what is the SMART regime? I'm just thinking I might suggest it to my asthma nurse as an alternative to Seretide since I'm sick of being on such a high dose.

PS - a-jtinker20 - I'm sorry I didn't mean to hijack your thread!!!

Hi em

the SMART regime is the regime for the symbicort inhaler -which is another alternative.

both inhalers have both steroids and long acting beta-agonists.

fostair using SIMILAR regime, not quite the same and not always taught as not every cons likes using it in that way...

defo worth asking your asthma nurse about as an aternative to the seretide :) SMART regime or the fostair depending on your severity and your inhaled steroid needs etc... also diff nurses/ cons have their own preferences.

good luck :)

Hmm. I wouldn't mind trying this!

Of course, if I don't have asthma not going to help anyway. And if they don't think I have it not going to get to try!

What a muddle. I hope it works for you though Amanda, you sound like things not been great recently so would be good to get asthma under control and not be back and forth at dr's all the time.
