painful breathing

Hi guys

I have a bit of a unusual problem, on friday night I was in costa with a really bad asthma attack triggered by cigarette smoke, anyway since then it is painful when I breathe in not all the time but only when I take deep breathes or yawn, anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Hi,

I sometimes get terrible chest pain with asthma and I think it is down to pulled muscles, (I do cough a lot) I see an osteopath because I have a spinal scoliosis, he says sometimes you can pop a rib out when you have an attack and or pull muscles. Anyway you might find that a massage or a visit to a tame osteopath might help. However I would mention it to your doctor. I always tell the dr, even if the osteopath sorts out the prob.. It could be something else, and its good to have all bases covered.

HI,

I suffer quite a lot with pain in my right lung - especially when my asthma is really really bad. I have mentioned it to my consultant a few times and have had chest x rays to rule out collapsed lung etc. My cons said it may possibly be a pulled muscle or the chest wall rubbing together (he used a lot more technical terms - but I can't really remember exactly what he said!!).

It can be really painful though so I hope you can get it sorted, but its definately best to mention it - just to rule out anything else.

Hope you feel better soon,

Sarah x

its quite normal to pull muscles etc around the rib area when taking an asthma attack - i've done it several times and i've asked if i can avoid it and there isn't. its bizzare though sometimes hardly anything causes it at all.

thanks for the replys everyone, I am seeing my doc tomorow and I will definatley mention it, I was coughing non stop for about 3hrs so a pulled muscle seems quite likely, I also had stomach pain for a few days so I think I pulled a muscle there aswell!!
