Hi

I was diagnosed yesterday although have been using the reliever pump for the last week.... I figured that my GP suspected it was asthma, so I did some research online... This site is really informative and I've learnt a great deal from it, so it's worth reading and it'll answer your questions :)

Hello Vicky and Naomi,

For starters, have a look at the main home page of the web site and go to All ahout Asthma where there are loads of fact sheets and information that you can download and read and this will give you a basic idea of what asthma is, how it is treated and how to get the best out of things.

Please remember that for the vast majority of people asthma is controllable and you can continue an active life. Also, a very few of us have severe asthma which is not well controlled and this message board attracts quite a few of us uncontrolled asthmatics too asking advise about some quite scarey aspects of asthma - please do not be put off by this. But please ask any questions you like about asthma, even if you think they are very basic.

I hope this helps a little bit!

Take care

Kate

dont forget if you want to find out about something you can always use the search box- i've found that normally answers my questions. SOmetimes you might have to log out to do it though.
