When my asthma is playing up I get a really bad stomach ache that lasts for days - until my chest has improved - is this normal??

Hi

a while ago i used to get an upset tummy when I used my Serevent inhaler, this happened about two weeks after first starting it. my gp told me this was a rare side effect, at first he said its just one of those things but because it went on for a while then he thought it may be due to the inhaler, as I only got tummy ache and nausea after taken it he said a must be a link must be with it so changed my beta2 agonist to another one and it improved my tummy pains.. Id go to your gp or speak to your asthma nurse if it only happens when you have to take more of your inhaler. the reason he said it was rare is because of it being inhaled and not going straight into my tummy, but when i went back on it for a while again my tummy pain started again.

hi gloomyeeyore,

I hadn't linked this before - DUH - but thinking about it, the last 2 or 3 attacks I have also suffered from stomach pains. Have no idea whether this is normal or not but the question has been added to my already lengthy list to ask cons next week.

Occasionally i have had this happen to me and i was told that sometimes you can use your tummy muscles to help breathing hence giving you stomach probs, i know this is quite common in kids as well
