Was just given this yesterday but having trouble with it, its really hard to inhale deeply with this, like theres a blokage or I can't breathe in hard enough. Is this normal or should I head back to the pharmacy/doc? My chest is hurting already and I've only tried twice! Help!!!

I use the pulmicort easybreath. Similar to a mdi but not aerosol prpellent so u suck in the powder as u breath in. Also Not mean to be cheaky but are u covering the vent holes when breathing in. The pharmacist and asthma nurse should be able to off u advice on this inhaler. So I haven't been able to offer more help

T'hanks Gussypoo, the nurse said she wasn't keen on the Easi-breathe so gave me this one. Ha ha yeah I did check I wasn't covering the holes, I thought this was the problem to start with but it doesn't matter where I hold it. I will pop along to the pharmacist for some advice then, thank you xx

Hi september20,

I use the symbicort turbohaler and find it really easy to use. Maybe there is a problem with your particular one. Are you turning the base twice, whilst holding it upright, until you hear a click?

(Apologies if i'm stating the obvious!)

Hi September just checking to see hiw things are. Did u go back to asthma nurse.

HI Gussypoo, I went to Boots yesterday, the pharmacist had a thing that checks you can inhale hard enough which apparently I can, so at least I know I'm getting the medication. So I think I'll use it until I see the nurse in a month and then see if I can change.

I was on the turbohaler briefly (it wasn't great for my symptoms, but plenty of others get along brill with it, so don't let that put you off) and did notice that it feels harder work than the puffer type inhalers. I think it's something you'll get used to.

See if your asthma nurse or GP can give you a fake one that checks you're inhaling hard enough to use at home. The one I have is a bit like a whistle, only you inhale rather than blow and is shaped like the turbhaler.

Should the user be able to taste / feel when they breathe in the dose? I feel nothing - its as if the turbohaler isn't working.
