Random Quotes...

It occurred to me today and yesterday that every so often we all say daft things which seemed apt at the time, but looking back were actually pretty funny.

One I came out with was yesterday, I was playing Abe's Odyssey, an old game on Playstation and PC, from 1997 (really back in the day), it involves you solving logic puzzles and leading Abe and his ill-fated friends out of ""Rupture Farms"" a meat processing plant. Well, I had lead some guys out of the place and saw a lever. I muttered ""I wonder what this does..."" as I walk over and pull it. A giant ball of I don't know what it was, but it looked squishy, falls down and smashes on the platform. In the area where one of Abe's friends was standing previously. ""Oh, so that's what it does..."" I replied, completely neutral and oblivious until I noticed Steve was laughing so hard he was going pink!

Anyone else done something similar?

stupid remark i made

Hey there, how about this for stupid!!

A few years ago, we were on holday near beacon fell.

My wifes parents gave us a video camera, nice compact one that uses tapes. Guess that makes it old by todays standards, but back then, it was the dogs nads.

So, like most blokes, i didnt bother reading the instructions.

Just charged it up and off we went for a walk around the fell.

It was nice day, i start recording the scenic walk.

I went on ahead, to film my wife & daughter as they walked toward me.

Had no idea what all the little buttons, switches & gizmos did, but who cared.

I asked my wife & daughter to walk slowly toward me.

I messed about getting focus etc right, then, whilst recording, they stopped to look at a bird or a tree or something.

Naturally, i started pushing buttons, switches etc.

When i focussed again on my wife, i exclaimed

Hey! How did you move closer so quick without me seeing you move??

We didnt, my wife replied.

Puzzled, i started filming again.

But something wasnt right. Things looked a bit blurry.

Naturally, i handed it to my daughter.

Here you are, try getting it to focus, i think somethings wrong with it.

She filmed some of the walk, getting very clear recording of rabbits, squirrels etc.

When we got in, we played the video back.

My question how did you move closer so quick & i think somethings wrong it wont focus played back for all to hear.

Now, i got the answer to these mysterious events.

Being a pillock, i had set zoom in.

That video has been shown to almost everyone we know.

The ritual humiliation as it shows just how much of a pillock i was, never grows old.

I am just relieved the vid never made it onto the net.
