Just watching the Apollo 13 doc. on Channel 5 and did it not occour to someone in NASA that launching a no.13 mission at 13 minutes past the 13th hour was pushing your luck a bit???????

In Cricket in England, the score of 111, and multiples of are considered unlucky and are called a Nelson (double, treble etc.), for obvious reasons.

In Australia, 87 is considered unlucky, 13 short of 100.

Buildings traditionally don't have a 13th floor*, and there's never been an F1 car assigned the number 13.

* Obviously they do, but it's not numbered as such. My favourite example of this is at the Sheraton-on-the-Falls at Niagara in Canada. When originally built there were twelve guest floors with a restaurant on the top, so they called the top floor the ""penthouse"" floor rather than the 13th. In the 80s the hotel was extended upwards, so that there are now 24 floors - and the 13th floor is *still* called the ""penthouse"" floor, despite it now being in the middle of the building!
