the wee man was away in Hong Kong for a few months,
when over there health improved greatly.
asthma was good, rarely needing his blue inhaler if at all,
eczema was also good.
He has been home just over a week and his skin is flaring up, has streamy eyes and is now needing his inhaler a lot more, though is able to ask for it now (he's just turned 4).
That is interesting. I noticing that both mine and Ryan's asthma improve when we go on holiday to see family that live in the country. We have family that lives in Wales right near the sea and Devon. I always thought it was the different quality in the air as you can feel it is less polluted in the taste you get in your mouth from breathing in the air. Could be something to do with air but would be very interesting to read what other people have to say or think
I never had any symptoms of asthma while I lived in the countryside. When I moved to a city, aged 10, I ended up on steroid tablets as well as inhalers and used to cough til I was sick, couldn't go from one room to another without my inhaler as I wouldn't be able to get to it if I had an attack.
I was told that you always have the potential for asthma, but may or may not find your triggers. Obviously for me the initial trigger was the poor air quality in the city, and then others followed (cold air, sudden change in temp, exercise etc).
when I moved to the country (wexford in Ireland) from London,I had so many more allergys,and more chest infections,have wondered if living near the sea would help.
maybe its all the cold, damp and miserable weather we get.
have stepped up to 5 puffs every 3-4 hours to see if we get any improvement, still coughing away tho.. keeps telling me 'its not good' and when someone says to him, awe have u got a bad cough? he says no i got a bad throat.
have an appointment at hospital on Thursday anyway.
i wouldn't have thought that it'd be down to ""good, clean air"" in Hong Kong - they have some of the worst air pollution in the world!
i think it could be more to do with the climate, rather than the polution levels.
tho it could just be a coinsidence that he has a flare up as soon as he returns home.....who knows.
diet maybe? or perhaps there's something about your house....... pets? ex-owners having pets? maybe it is the climate - how about a move to Hong Kong! Someone else that I've talked to on here takes her kids away every October now, just to escape the cold and damp months here, and she swears by it.
might have to try to convince my hubby to take us on holiday to Hong Kong now, for our son's health reason. obviously ;o)
Hi I'm the one that takes my kids away for a week of sunshine in the autumn and will be doing it again this year, only given my Son one course of oral steroids since November, yipee!! Dr said we live in a bad area for asthma, would love to be able to live near the sea. Maybe one day.
Hope your Son feels better soon. We went out for dinner last night and us three asthmatics all started coughing when we sat down, there was some trigger there, don't know what it was. Other 2 non asthmatics were fine, weird.

not diet i don't think as he eats the same foods in both places.
i do think good weather helps.
I was chatting to a pal about it yesterday and she was telling me about her son. Whenever he comes to visit her, as soon as he steps off the train in Cambridgeshire, his asthma starts up. He lives in London and is fine down there. I wonder if there are any studies about regional and international variations in asthma triggering?

had hosp appointment - now upping his dose on preventer, and keeping up with blue inhaler. go back to see doc in 2 weeks to see if he has improved.
