My daughter is a user on here and is having a difficult time. She has said a lot today, that doesn't feel ""well"", in her own words, she says she feels ""off and spaced out, similar to how she does when oxygen levels are sort of low"". She seems to be breathing OK for the best part of it, it seems like she gets out of breath but is resolved by inhaler usage; these periods when she seems to be out of breath last a couple of minutes on their own then resolve itself. She says she is a bit tight, but nothing worse than usual. She can, and usually does get unwell in a short space of time.
In this sort of situation, should you, as a parent, trust your instinct and get checked over, or wait to see if your child is going to be OK at home?
Always go on instinct. I have lost count of the times when my Mum has made me go and get checked out and I absolutely hate going to the doctors. I got some weird fear but my mother is very instinctive and will practically nag me to go. I only go when Ive had enough of the nagging! Lol. Its better to air on the side of caution. I feel more at ease when I know Im okay and a doctor is the only one to give it to me in regards to my asthma. Mothers instincts are very powerful. Hope your daughter feels better soon. x
my lungs make me go trought the same lately, I would say that if you feel insecure you should ask your doctor, I hate going to the neumonologyst but it is the only way we can take all our fears and concerns about asthma. afther all they have studied for that.

My daughter looks after her own asthma most of the time, but leaves it until its to a point where she won't respond to nebulisers easily a lot of the time. She has bad depression on top of this too and often says she hopes it kills her by leaving it, obviously being a parent, this has set some signals off for me.
She had asthma pretty badly when she was younger, she was taking blue, brown and green inhalers to keep it under control. When she was younger, the only symptoms she presented were coughing until the point of vomiting. She grew out of it around 8yrs old and has taken care of herself after it'd come back due to her age, because she looks after herself with it now, I am confused on which signs to look out for, she doesn't wheeze often, when she does, it is normally the back end of coughing which comes off wheezy.. I notice a lot of the time, her breathing seems to be shallow, but doesn't seem to have any other symptoms unless she mentions them.
She is waiting to see a consultant and has been asked if she is a brittle asthmatic due to the severity of her attacks and because of how fast they come on, with no warning signs before hand. If she is a brittle asthmatic, has anyone had any experience with dealing with it in someone with hayfever and mental health problems, otherwise fully healthy?
as a mum myself, always go with your instincts and yes, even now she's older sometimes you may have to be mama bear and force her to do things she may not want to do!
get a copy of her action plan and stick it in the kitchen where you can see it. and one by the front door in the hall where it's close in case of need.
