Hi, I personally wouldn't rush into getting rid of the dog. My son has asthma and he is perfectly fine with animals, isn't allergic and doesn't trigger his asthma.

My brother, on the other hand, is allergic to dogs and that, along with horses, is the only things that set off an asthma attack! Each is different so it's down to finding your own childs triggers.

Do you know for certain if the dog is effecting your lo's asthma?

If you are unsure and not had any form of allergy testing for dogs (which, from my own experience, is probably unlikely) then is there anyway you could ask someone to take the dog for a short period of time and see if it does make any difference to you childs asthma?

Unfortunately some Dr's are quick to jump to blaming animals when children have breathing problems (asthma or not) and I do think it is wrong as everyone has different triggers.

Hi.

My 4 year old twins have quite severe asthma and various allergies and eczema, but their allergy tests showed they are not allergic to cats or dogs. So I also would say not to rush into it.

For now you could try making sure the dog doesn't go into his room and hoovering regularly may help?

thanks
