Hi, I just wondered if I could get a little advice. I have a son who is nearly 4. He gets really mild excema. In January he woke up with a cough and his breathing was laboured. We took him to casualty where they gave him a of steroids and salbutamol. We stayed there for a few hours untill they were happy that his breathing was ok. They said it was possibly a viral wheeze and that if it occured again to take him to our GP. At the end of february he got a cold and agin the cough and wheezing. Our GP said it could possibly be Asthma and gave us the preventer inhaler.
We used the preventer for a couple of weeks then stopped as he was absolutely fine. We with hindsight realize this probably wasnt the right thing to do was it?
This morning he woke up and his breathing was very laboured, agin the nasty cough. He has had a cold for the last couple of days. We gave him six puffs of salbutamol as first adviced by the paediatrician in casualty and he is ok now. My GP is now closed untill monday. What do I do for the remainder of the weekend medication wise? Does it seem as though its Asthma? Do I just keep on seeing our GP or do I ask for a referral to someone with a little more knowledge? Sorry this is a bit long winded. Many thanks.
Kerry
