With great difficulty to be totally honest. I recently suffered 5 weeks of insomnia, only getting 2-4 hours of broken sleep a night. It became very frustrating, and I was literally starting to tear my hair out! I was determined to not take prescription sleeping tablets, so I started doing a relaxation routine for an hour before bed. I would have a cup or two of Chamomile tea, from the tea pigs brand. Along with a herbal sleeping tablet either 2 nytols or 1 calms sleep. I turned off my tv an hour before bed, and turned my phone off for the night (apparently the radiation from mobiles affect sleep.) I cut out ALL caffeine throughout the day, and drank decaf or herbal teas. Most importantly I had to tackle the reasons that I was waking up, worrying about my health etc. I then had to accept the fact I was unable to sleep, and tell myself my sleep pattern would return to normal soon enough. I hope this helps.

Hi Hafiza, I used to get to sleep but wake up at 4am every morning, id make myself stay in bed, just staring into space in case I somehow manage to get to sleep again. This might be more shocking if you knew me, im not a morning person at all, I have 7 alarms spaced over 1 1/2 hrs and im still late for work every day, no exaggeration. I don't mean id just wake up, I mean im wide awake, eyes wide open, mind on the go. This settled with ADs and I can finally sleep the whole night through but getting to sleep isn't easy. Even on the best of days as soon as I turn our the light the tears will come, every night. To be honest I don't remember ever falling asleep, I have cried myself to sleep for months, some nights I even forget that this happens and turn out the light but as soon as my head hits the pillow it comes from nowhere. I think its the pleasure of knowing I can now just go to sleep, and the fear of having to wake up again in the morning and get through the day. But I suffer from depression and anxiety so im guessing I might be coming from a different place. My fears have turned into sadness mostly, or the other way around, who knows.

If you're having trouble sleeping nightly then please do go and see your GP, they can give you sleeping pills which should help. You cant get better on no sleep, you'll be mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted, you'll have no hope.

I tried herbal sleeping tablets but they didn't do anything for me, but they must work for a lot of people otherwise they wouldn't exist so give them a go if you haven't already.

Heard a lot of people on here say the night time Rescue Remedy is fab too, not tried it myself but definitely worth a go.

Sweet dreams... hopefully x
