Hi, I have always been an anxious person, since the age of 5 years old.

I am now 67 years, and I am totally obsessed with my blood pressure and readings. I know I have high bp, as it is in my family history. But it drives me insane.

I`d say anxiety is a factor in mine being high but then again it`s only recently it`s been a constant high.

Thing is Doctor's today have not a clue how anxiety and depression affect's people, because they do not understand it for 1, and secondly they cannot be bothered I feel.

not seen an actual doctor in over 3 years they just don`t care like they used too.

Well Kenster1 you must insist that you do see a doctor, but I agree doctor's are just so uncaring. Good luck.

Health care has become "big business". An assembly line just like in manufacturing. However, we are people not machines, to be put together from parts. There is very little "doctor to patient contact" anymore. The doctor comes in, checks the chart and has one foot out the door while you attempt to have a conversation regarding your health. Or is that not what doctor's do anymore. Sorry for the long diatribe but can you tell that I'm seriously pissed at the state of health care now. 😠

If you haven’t seen a Dr for over 3 years for your bp I’d start there. Worrying about your Bp will just increase it more and lead to life threatening complications. They don’t care like they used to? Example please!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I`ve seen the nurse regular who`s been doing the tests but I`ll be expecting the doc to call me in in regards to the high blood pressure.

That’s good to hear…:). I used to worry about mine but a small amount of bp med has kept it in check.)😘

I too have about 3 bp machines, but my whole problem is that I have been diagnosed with blood pressure medication Intolerance. They just make me feel very unwell. If i could take a tablet everyday that would take my bp down, I would be thrilled, but I have tried so many and they make me truly feel like life isnt worth living. I believe there is something in my body that does not like these meds.

What are your symptoms of bp med intolerance?

Hi Dixie 9326. I have tried very many bp meds, they make me very low in mood, I could also sleep round the clock. I know of one med that would do the trick for me, as in lower my bp and lower my anxiety. That med is Bisoprolol, but alas I cannot take it because it affects my breathing, as does candasartan. Currently I have just come off of a tiny amount of Ramipril because it makes me feel just unwell, also the coughing was ridiculous. I was on Bisoprolol for years until I started the menopause, and then the breathing problems started. They thought I had asthma, so I saw a specialist asthma nurse, and she said you need to stop beta blockers. For me it is so frustrating because I know it would help with my bp. I was diagnosed with Multi Drug Intolerance, buy a professor in London called Professor Lobo, who is extremely well know in his field. Also on bp drugs I get very bad low back pain and joint pain. I believe I have something in my body that reacts badly to these drugs. It is a bad situation to be in.

I can’t take bisoprolol as it makes my breathing bad, my gp couldn’t understand it as I was on the lowest dose. It also makes my nocturia much worse so I end up waking 5 or 6 times a night for the loo! I suffer so many side effects from tablets I’m scared to take them.

Hi Yoga2011, I was taking just half of a 1.25 Bisoprolol and it still makes me wheeze. Doctor's do not believe how these medications affect people. I think my doctor thinks I am nut's.

With anxiety your sub conscious chooses a subject channelling your anxiety. If it was not your BP it would be something else this is how it works..

All your anxious thoughts will diminish when you learn to slow your mind, like silt settling in a still pond👍

Spend time alone walking in nature without mental input, let your mind rest and enjoy nature🙏I wish you well

Hi thanks for reply. I get where you are coming from, and I do enjoy walking, but because of my history with anxiety and depression, I became agoraphobic for many years, but with the help of a very very supportive and tolerant hubby, I did get over that, although now and for many many years I do not go anywhere on my own. I'm afraid this god awful thing got me from all sides over the years.

Don't be afraid of meds to help 🙏

I have been on antidepressants for about 35 years, but there are no magic answers I'm afraid. God forbid I am ever left on my own without my hubby, I probably would not go out again, Unless it was very close to my home. I think now it has become about separation anxiety, which is what I felt a a young child, I never wanted to leave home or my mother for fear of what was going on with my parents.

Well I have'nt given up in 67 years, there have been times when I think, I can't do this anymore. If it were not for the love of my husband I do not know what would have happened. But boy It is a tough one.

I was like you, until I realised that life owed me nothing, but I owed gratitude for having this life.It is our perception through fear that takes away the enjoyment...

Worth listening to Sadguru on you tube, he helped explain my distorted view and helped take away the poor me,s....I genuinely wish you well, even small progress is good🙏

Weird thing is that I don't think my parents had a clue how this was affecting me, my sister came out of it totally unscathed mentally. I was just a real sensitive kid. I cannot even really feel it in me to blame my parents. Aside from there personal issue's with each other, my sister and I were never ever abused, in fact we had everything we ever wanted as kids, horses -donkeys -dogs etc, and I know they both loved us, sadly they just had an abusive marriage.

I’ve just been looking through my list of communities here on health unlocked and I noticed one called High blood pressure support so if you put that in the search option on here, it may come up or look for other communities, and you might get some tips to bring your blood pressure down . Just a thought.
