Sound Sensitive

I keep hearing sounds from my right side even though nothing is there, these sounds are acute like ticking sounds. What is the meaning of this?

Is it the ticking of your heartbeat you can hear, I have that, not too loud to be a nuisance. It's called pulsile tinnitus caused by close proximity of blood vessels in the ear to the hearing part of the ear.

Maybe something else but best ask an expert: your doctor who is best placed to give you an informed reply.

Sound can often give the wrong impression of where it's coming from. The possible cause I described would indeed be from beside you ie the blood vessels and hearing mechanism inside your ear.

That's it, that's all I know, was told this by an audiology doctor years ago. I don't say that's the cause of your symptoms, only a possibility.

Now here's what I think! - I have read the comments from GogetaThirdEyes and Jeff1943, and agree wholeheartedly with them, and I have to admit I have experienced all of the above. But I ask a question, What power - i.e. electricity, telephone, broadband, WiFi, all the usual technological wiring that filters through our homes 24 hours a day do you have? Have you ever stood beneath a telegraph pole outside your homes or a pylon in a country lane or field and heard the buzz filtering down? At night when we are sleeping, we expect everything to remain still - and certainly we get much better sleep when we are still. But technology goes on 24/7, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Our hearing, in fact all of our senses are so finely tuned that we hear every sound, and put our own interpretation on what is it. What you are experiencing is 'modern day living', we are in the first generations who must get used to this as the 'new norm'. Stop putting obstacles in your own way, and learn to adapt. I also experience a 'banging sound' coming from my kitchen area, and thought I was being invaded by rats and mice - of whom I have a 'fear phobia' I was petrified, so one night I ventured into a dark kitchen sat silently - fully expecting a four legged thing with a long tail to jump on me, or something. As I waited in the silence I heard the banging sound and discovered it was coming from the freezer, which is auto-defrost, on speaking to an electrical engineer the following day was advised this is caused by the natural defrostation, and nothing to worry about. So I don't any more! Try some ear plugs, get a grip, stop fantasising, say a prayer, and enjoy a good nights sleep!
