Catastrophizing

Will be happy to hear if anyone beat this condition and how did you handle or break it?

I try to make the event seem or sound silly and I play the game of percentages to put my catastrophising thaughts into proportion.

I tend to fall into it's trap alot. Plus tge "rigid" thaughts that race throw my head at times are causing me to feel anxious all the time to the extend where I feel dizzy almost always.

Some of the things that have helped me are: practicing mindfulness and learning to detach and observe my thoughts, reading The Work by Byron Katie and learning how to question my thinking and thoughts, allowing the catastrophic thoughts to happen and then purposefully make up more of them and scarier ones to where I got tired and they lost their emotional charge and repeated this when ever they come up. Realizing and understanding that the scary thoughts purpose was to protect me at any cost but I no longer needed protecting allowed me to make friends with them and over time they decreased and went away. The key to recovery is to never believe your scary thoughts and know they are lies.

Anxiety is a very tough situation. Everyday is a negotiating situation with myself. I notice that if I fight my anxiety it gets worse and prolongs longer. I do have to work with it, make time for the things that make me happy. Go for a walk, play with my kids, talk to friends that are encouragement, watch a nice movie (i.e. comedy), exercise, go to a park. In any given day some might work or mix and match to see which one counteracts the anxiety effect. Reading and wrting on this site helps because people better understand what you are going through. As a last step i take medication if things are not correcting themselves and anxiety is getting too high. This has been my experience and anxiety goes into remission for periods of time. For me its always there waiting. if I go back to the world of stress or not putting in the time for myself it creeps up again. I have not found a permanent solution yet but these steps have helped me.
