Sinusitis, brain fog and anxiety

Hi all,

Has anyone else experienced debilitating brain fog with sinusitis? It's triggering me in every way possible and driving my anxiety up.

I've had sinusitis since I got a top wisdom tooth removed in March.

I've been able to cope just fine, even with the heavy brain fog.

However, I had to take all last week off work due to the intense brain fog and tiredness.

Giving all my money to an ENT in London on Thursday.

The brain fog and fatigue are the worst of the symptoms, as I can no longer just push myself through work.

I'm supposed to be returning to work Monday, but I don't think it'll go well - brain fog is still heavy.

Anyone have any experience with sinusitis and brain fog?

Thanks.

I use to get chronic sinus infections and headaches. Brain fog is part of having them and not being able concentrate or focus. It turned out that I had candida fungal overgrowth and had to go on a strict sugar and wheat elimination diet. I suggest finding a good functional medicine practitioner or naturopath to work with.

And yes, if you are prone to anxiety, feeling like crap can exacerbate it. Try to be kind and compassionate with yourself while you are healing.

Hi there!

Thanks so much for your kind reply! I feel like I need to clean up my diet anyway so what you're suggesting sounds like a great place to start! Did it take you long to eliminate your brain fog overall?

You're welcome. It didn't take too long to clear up the brain fog, it took longer to get rid of the candida. It took my doing the diet from hell - no sugar, no wheat, no dairy and no alcohol for about 9 months plus taking anti-fungals. Changing your diet should really improve your brain fog pretty quickly. The candida issue is more complicated so that's why I would find a functional medicine person or naturopath to work with and have yourself tested to make sure you have it first. Candida fungal overgrowth isn't typically recognized as legit by western medicine but believe me, it's real.
