Ear wax: .does anyone know if putting olive... - Anxiety Support
Ear wax
Warm it up just put a small amount in at first ….don’t stick anything else down there like ear buds and pencils and stuff
Make sure you are using medical grade olive oil and not just stuff you buy to use in the kitchen. It should work by softening the ear wax making it easier to remove. As it softens it can expand slightly which would make a temporary blocked feeling/additional deafness.
This is only a temporary phenomenon. Sillysausage234 's advice to warm it first will help it clear better. Put drops in at night and lie on the other side for 10 minutes to allow the oil to get to the wax; don't put cotton wool in as it tends to soak up the oil. Don't worry if it runs out again afterwards, because at least some will still be there and doing its job (which is why you temporarily get deafer). It can be uncomfortable for a few days, but will definitely aid syringing and, when that's done, your hearing will be amazing
Don't know about olive oil but my husband puts peroxide in his ear then rinses it out with distilled water in a bulb syringe. If you're unsure and uncomfortable my advice is to go to a doctor. My husband's a nurse but I won't let him near my ears.
