Feel silly

Hi. I think- my husband says i am..- suffering with anxiety? Im not depressed, but just constantly feel worried about things. I make a 'big deal' out of things un-necessarily. I know i'm being ridiculous and blowing things out of proportion, but cant help myself. A silly example- the other day i lent my friend a book. I loved the book and want to keep it. She lost the book. I obviously didnt tell her how upset i was about loosing the book- even (tried ) making a joke out of it, but i was pacing the house, never stopped thinking about it....my daughter said she would buy me the book again- but that wasnt the point! It played on my mind for hours...she eventually found the book...😐 im worried about going out with a group of friends for drinks. So much so that i cried the other day...i really cant go. I feel like im being ridiculous. Im usually very sociable and outlandish even, but id rather just stay home now, or go out in a quieter manner for a meal. I know some friends will understand- but im not so sure certain ones will. Im 51. Just started HRT. Hoping that helps? Thankyou for letting me ramble!

Im not a Dr. but your husband is correct. Constant worry is the same thing as anxiety. Im not a woman but hrt certainly can and has helped so many with this.....if the hrt is started after the symptoms. If hrt was started before the symptoms than it could contrbute to the cause.Your symptoms seem mild to me since i have been exactly there. You are not being silly and are doing the right thing by researching and asking questions! Along with HRT, things that can help are: meditation, challenging negative thinking, counseling with CBT (or self cbt), force yourself to do normal things that may now feel uncomfortable (drinks with friends), herbal calming supplements and tea, adjustments in diet, and daily exercise routine (as little as a daily walk). Most of these things can be done on your own with a little internet research. As a last resort (if the above doesn't work. Although it should) prescription medications for anxiety are available but they can have unpleasant side effects. Hope u feel better.

You might also check your thyroid and adrenal glands and make sure they are functioning well. Both these and your hormones can contribute to anxiety/mood swings.
