Losartan or anxiety causing tingling lips??

Hello everyone. Have just started low dose Losartan after coming off Ramipril due to it making Raynauds worse. Only been taking Losartan for 3 days and I have had tingling lips, croaky voice and mouth ulcers. Just wondered if anyone else has taken this bp med and how they got on. Have not posted for a while but have been doing lots of searching. I also have high cholesterol but eventually came off statins due to side effects. (I posted about this in a different group) I have also recently been diagnosed with a heart murmur. Some guidance as to where I should be posting this please. . I feel uptight and as though a hypochondriac. Meds and I do not get on.it seems.

I have not taken bp meds and am not really familiar with Raynauds. Since you've noticed 3 new symptoms since taking Losartan I would consult with a local pharmacy and speak to the pharmacist about their clinical experience with this medication. The tingling lips symptom...I have read that respiratory alkalosis (caused by hyperventilation which can occur with anxiety) can cause tingling sensation in the lips and tongue. To overcome hyperventilation try taking several breathing breaks throughout the day (put reminders in your phone if you must) and take a long breath out first to empty your lungs, then breathe in for a count of 4, hold for a count of 2-4, and exhale for a count of 4. Repeat. Do this for a few minutes. The idea is to get you to notice when your breathing has gone out of whack and to help normalize it again. It will take a few days to weeks to learn to stop hyperventilating so don't get discouraged if you don't notice any difference right away. It took me a couple months. Hope this helps.

Thank you Miniwheats. I am just so sensitive to.medication, I get what you are saying about the breathing technique and I can feel when things tighten up.The tingling has (touch wood) stopped but I take nothing for granted. On Ramipril I thought I was doing ok until my dose was upped. Suddenly my.nose was running luncontrollably , I was getting back and upper stomach pain and my.fingers went white just getting the milk out of the fridge. Doctor lowered dose again but I was still getting symptoms. Hence Losartan. I have blood test.booked for.next week. Pharmacists are very good but.in this instance the pharmacist just asked if she could ring me after a couple of weeks to see how.I was getting on The last time that happened was when I was prescribed Amlodipine which made my feet swell. I kept feeling as though I was going to pass out and my body felt full of toxins. I think I may have to ride things out until I have blood test. I must admit to to feeling like a zombie. I am sorry for the.long reply. I am so.pleased that you do not require BP meds

Mine started a.lot of years ago. Atenolol was prescribed to help cope with anxiety and deal with slightly elevated.blood pressure. Thought it was only to.have been a short term.remedy. Felt awful for several weeks but.settled down. and was fine for years. I won't go on now but I thought I would add a few details in case anyone else is suffering in a similar way. Sometimes it helps to know we are not alone. Thank you again and I take on board your advice regarding the breathing and will ring pharmacist if things become intolerable. Xx
