Hi,

Could any one please to let me know if having heart burn after taking Citalopram is normal?

My chest is killing me! Will this go away or am I wasting my time???

Hi Catatvet05, I am not seeing it as a side effect of Citalopram (Celexa) It could be that

your heartburn is a separate issue. Please talk this over with your doctor. Feel better :) xx

I don’t either. Called 111 because reception won’t let me talk to my gp. Definitely can give heartburn though, read an old blog online. Need to eat more. Thanks x

I remember over the years my doctor telling me to always eat a little something when

taking medications. I continue that practice until today and have never experienced

heartburn or stomach issues. It seems to help you as well when you eat.

I don't know what "slippery elms" is but always be careful in what you mix with your

medications, holistic or not. I hope you get some positive results soon. Hopefully

as Gabsy's said, she starting feeling better by week 3. My best to you :) xx

Yes I will take that on board regarding the slippery elms- it’s a form of tree bark in powder form. Suppose to be good for protecting stomach lining. I eat before taking the tablet: breakfast and lunch and still seem to have got the heartburn. I carried on eating banana and yogurt including a larger meal. Maybe I just need a large meal? Thank you x

I just read on mediapp that green tea combined can cause risk of bleeding.

It can in some cases. I need to be careful regarding what I eat or drink

because of being on Warfarin. Green Tea is one of them.

Always let your doctor know what you are taking (holistic or over the counter)

as well as what foods/drink may interact. Safety is always #1. :) xx

Never what have realised unless I check a medical app. I’ve let my doctor know today. I’m against taking medication but really need to get rid of my reflux and IBS issues. Anyway let’s see. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼. X

I had the same problem. Should get better by week 3

That’s promising! Seems to ease when I eat something after as well. It’s painful but also drink slippery elms to soothe the pain. It does actually write that the medication can cause Dyspepsia (5%). Thank you so much 🙏🏼

Though a lot of people do not get it, mine was disturbing at night. 5 weeks now and no more. Good luck!

Sorry to hear this. 5 weeks is a long time. My doctor had suggested ppi but I’m not going down that route. I’m okay now. I had 2 days of dizziness at night but symptoms seems to have eased. I do feel tired and at night it’s quite intense. Hope you get the results you need. X

It’s pretty painful and I need to eat ALOT to stop the heartburn . Hopefully by 3 week it will stop? It’s to stop my reflux issues called functional heartburn. I’m always burping and regurgitation due to anxiety apparently? Thank you
