Hi all, I have been suffering with major anxiety for about 6 weeks now, I have gone from being sick every day due to my anxiety to having calmed down I was on 20mg of fluoxetine that has deffo helped with myLow
Mood however my anxiety in the morning is completely through the roof so I have been prescribed 40mg of propanolol to take in a morning I’ve been on this now for 4 days it does seem to be helping but if I take it too early in the morning it leads to a massive meltdown again and anxiety through the roof is anyone else taking this mix and will it get better? Will it work eventually properly as I can deffo see some improvement however when the propanolol wears off I do start getting anxiety again I know the dosage can be upped however the doctor has said just in the morning for now is it worth asking to go onto 3 a day? Thanks in advance guys

I was on propranolol for a while a few years ago and my skin reacted to it so I came off it. I know this side effect doest affect everyone on propranolol.
You said your anxiety hasn't gone completely. Normally, when you are on such mess you get a review every few months. It doesn't mean u have to wait a few months if you are concerned about the effect out meds you are on.
However, the best person to talk to is your GP.
If I were you I would give them a ring and tell them my concerns, I'm sure they wanna listen and help.
Hi thanks for your reply sorry to hear of your reaction, yes I am a lot better than I was I just find it hard in a morning to face the day I know it’s like a cycle and I just need to break it but it seems like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel, yes I have a review in 3 weeks but if I’m still feeling like this I will give them a call, I just feel a bit lost at the moment as this is so unlike me and I just feel like I’m letting my daughter down
Hi, I have had anxiety all my life and been on Propranaolol for over 10 years, one 160mg slow release a day....no other tablets taken and has helped me calm down a lot.No side effects that have been a problem ....slow release is much better for me .All the best.
Hiya thanks for you reply, I have spoken to the gp today and she has agreed I can up it to 120mg a day now taking 40mg 3 times a day, I am going to give it a go until my review in 3 weeks and I may mention the slow release as I didn’t know that was a thing as it deffo helps in a morning but then fades quick x
All the best, yes I would mention slow release, I too have always been worse in the mornings but I really found the slow release capsules worked better for me...You just get a more gradual and continual feeling of stress release instead of being given a one hit pill.I also felt less tired on them and the doctors don't always tell about the options.Hope all goes well, I used to feel so anxious about everything but over time things have improved a lot, hopefully you will be the same.x
Thanks so much! Yeah that’s me at thenminute even if there’s nothing to stress me out that then makes me anxious that things are going too well I can’t win with my brain atm 😂 xx
So there is a light at the end of the tunnel then lol, things are very up in the air atm just left a mentally wbusive relationship and trying to find a school for myDaughter and it’s unsettled her too so it’s all just come at once xx
Yes, it certainly was the same for me, just when I wanted a time to settle and calm something always came up and I felt I was constantly battling first one problem then another..I am sure you will deal with it .Life is never easy but things will get better and yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel ,bad times will pass.xx
