Hi Nikkiox, I am not a doctor but looking back over your posts since last year looks like you have experienced these symptoms before. Your fear of covid-19 may be playing a big part

of you having an anxiety attack after you woke up. Waking up after a night's sleep or even a nap can cause a rush of adrenaline as the thoughts that you fear, flood your brain.

Of course, it is always in your best interest and safety to contact your doctor if you feel it necessary. Wishing you well. Let us know how you are doing after a while :) xx

Nikkiox, I use to experience the same symptoms as you upon awakening from a night's sleep and/or a nap. Sometimes, even falling asleep on the couch watching tv would put

me in a startle upon awakening. This has a lot to do with our over sensitized nervous system. It's like our body is always in preparation of the fight or flight response even when nothing is going on. Because of this, a minimal amount of adrenaline is always present in us and so we may not think we are anxious, but our body is acting out as if we were. :) xx

It sounds more like a Panic Attack. They are the scariest but go down much faster.

The thing to do is either walk it off in the house. Expending your energy will reduce the adrenaline a little faster then sitting there shaking.

There are great meditation videos on YouTube. If you type in "how to rid yourself of a Panic Attack" you will be talked through a calming exercise.

We need to calm your breathing down to help you relax and this video will do that.

Nikkiox, I haven't gotten them in years. It was a long journey but I won against

Anxiety. It no longer controls me. I have my life back once more and I'm here to

pay it forward to others. I understand how frightening it can be but it doesn't have to be a lifetime sentence. Talking with others on this safe forum will help you know that you are not alone. Educating ourselves on Anxiety can help break that cycle of fear and allow you to go forward. It's not about words but about action. A therapist can lead you to the right path but unless you take that road, nothing changes, nothing will happen.

I'm glad you are with us. Are you feeling any better yet?? :) xx

Just a suggestion, if you can stop for a second and lace your fingers together and place them under your skull as you are in bed. Relax as best as you can, look up to ceiling and with head not moving, (and this is important). just move you eyes to the RIGHT and wait for a sigh, a breath or a yawn; then look back to the ceiling, head still stationary and now slowly do same to the left, following that same procedure. When you feel that swallow, breath or a yawn look back up to the ceiling.

If you cannot do it on both sides then just try it again tomorrow morning. It will get easier the more you just test it, not worry if it does not come. Slowly get up and go about the normal morning ritual. This is opening up the autonomic nervous system so get up as that is also what gets a person out of bed in the morning. I often yawn and want to go back to sleep, but I don't. Just as I type this my body responds with a yawn, one of the best nervous system's autonomic response..

Now, this you can do each morning as it connects you to your autonomic nervous system. If the panic is still an issue, then need to just get up and move the body, listen to music, dance, let the body shake off the panic or it can grow worse. Then focus, focus on a morning ritual until is dissipates. People think they are going to die, but this is not true.

Do not discourage yourself if it does not work. Tomorrow is another day or later that day to try again should it return. It is just the body in fear. Movement can help tremendously.

The first exercise comes from Sydney Roseenberg's book who is a chiropractor to help with trauma. Sorry I will get title later as it escapes me. Since this pandemic has taken over our lives, my memory over titles are harder to access. That place where you put your laced fingers is at the cerebellum where three of the major nerves go thru the atlas bone and go to the brain and from the brain to the entire body and all organs. These nerves are very important as they tell the brain how the body is doing. So I always honor that part of the body as it is precious. I will try to put these nerves on the site if I can find them on my system so you can see just how powerful they are. It is in many books but this pix shows the extent of them in a more global understanding as I am not a doctor and only aware of these nerves and parts of the brain.

The amygdala stores a lot of our fears and the one nerve, the dorsal vagus has two main purposes that gets really complicated, but just to let you know it was our first evolved nerve in our evolution. We want to calm it down unless we really are in danger. Relaxing it helps our digestion which also might be giving you a hard time. Once it relaxes your digestion improves and a nice cup of calm tea with some soothing music.

Sorry for the length. I do this with clients all the time and they find it always helpful from the beginning and shocked at this nervous system they were to aware.
