Hi gogagirl, I’ve had surgery for a femoral hernia years ago, it was a day stay and I must say it wasn’t as bad I thought it was going to be. After surgery I was very tender and found sitting upright was a bit sore, but all you need is plenty of rest and don’t overdo things, lots of painkillers and gentle exercise for a while. Your going to be fine, let me know how it goes, wishing you all the best

That's comforting to hear Cimmy thank you...I'm usually pretty active so will just have to settle myself for a while !

Same here, Gogogirl... I'm 80, very anemic and have stage 3 ckd...

Surgeon is confident my femoral hernia can be done robotically.

Was scheduled for early in March but I'm working to re-schedule to April after my visit w/nephrologist. More time to work on my anemia and kidney diet.

PS >The side effects from the 1st dose of Moderna vaccine lasted a week and i'm stresesed just thinking about the 2nd dose which many say is worse. 😜

Thanks for replying , I realise now that I never even asked if it was going to be keyhole surgery or open...not sure what robotically means? Good luck with your diet etc & if I go before you will let you know how I get on👍

Thanks Gogogirl,

Robotic surgery is similar to laparoscopic surgery in the respect that they both use small incisions, a camera and surgical instruments. ... Compared to traditional surgery, robotic surgery provides your surgeon with a greater range of motion and precision, which may lead to less bleeding and post-operative pain......

It's beneficial to research these things...

My surgery has been re-scheduled to April...Yours?

Btw, your name here suggest to me that you're rather young.

Femoral hernias are generally found in older women. 🤔

Thanks for explaining that ...I hadn't a clue ! I'm 65 ...yes the older woman. My sister couldn't say my name & used to call me Goga so it stuck 😊 Did they give you any possible reasons for femoral hernias occurring ?

A femoral hernia occurs when tissue pushes through a weak spot in the muscle wall of the groin or inner thigh. Common causes include being overweight and overstraining while coughing, exercising, or passing stool. Symptoms of a femoral hernia include a lump in the groin or inner thigh and groin discomfort...PS > I'm underweight but have done a lot of pushing heavy boxes, even furniture, never thinking about a hernia. :(
