My anxiety thoughts

I’ve noticed my anxiety....

When I’m busy or distracted I’m good mostly

But when I’m sitting down relaxing or in bed..my mind keeps looking around for my symptoms like for etc

My eyes feels a bit heavy and headache, I try to ignore it but it won’t, but when I’m busy it ease off..

it’s like I’m fighting my brain to stop thinking of those symptoms!!

How’s to challenge my thoughts.... any tips????

Ditto I am the same!

I try to play word games in my head ha ill share mine (boring I know!)

I always go a-z but if I'm bad ill try z-a

Think of a country/place/food for every letter of the alphabet

Think of a 3/4/5/6 etc letter word for each letter of the alphabet.

Think of a word and then a crossword clue (so for example a = apple... A fruit from granny Smith, b = book... Found in a library)

Think of a famous actor or film beginning with each letter of the alphabet. Or name an actor then a film they starred in (so let's say Angelina Jolie and Mr and Mrs Smith)

Pick an actor/actress and name 5 films they have stared in.

If my mind starts drifting I make myself repeat the words I've already said and then if I forget il start over with new words. so let's say 4 letter words.... Also, book, card, does, eggs.....insert negative thought.... Ah sh*t right focus what did I have before.... Also, book, card.... Damn totally forgot start again. Right.... Adds, bias, cook, diet....

I used to enjoy reading but find myself easily distracted. I do like a good podcast tho you could try that

🙃

Wow that’s amazing how u try to distract urself

It’s mostly when boredom and when I’m bored I panic and try to find something to do which is hard at the mo bec of Covid

When I sit down and I feel good then it’s started to get bad and if I continue to sit and let it come back I get worse

So I just quickly get up and do something then it ease off

Like you said if I go to bed and I start with letter a-z etc of a subject which distract my brain so I will try that

Thanks for the tip

Stay safe

hi Davola i can understand what you are going through.. you are captivated by overthinking and procrastination and that is why your latent period of sleep is shifting longer.. what helps me get through overthinking is.. meditation and thinking about all my achievements... i like spending some time with my mom and talking about all what i feel and think-off..this helps me get off with the burden of thoughts..

Same for me. Times when I'm not occupied or am resting allows the subconscious to spew out a load of irrational and usually worrying thoughts. If you have an anxiety disorder these thoughts are held in the conscious and churned round and round till an anxiety or panic attack ensues.

How about trying a nice, brisk walk around the block (or two). That helps my anxiety level drop.

Yes it does feel so good going for a walk, makes me feel I’m alive... but when back home it’s comes back!!
