Help! Fear of fast heart rate!

I feel like my life is going to end at this point..

Okay, so for the last month I saw posts on how its unhealthy for someone's heart rate to stay over 100 beats per minute while resting and I feared that my anxiety was going to make my heart rate go up and up and never go down til I get a heart attack.

I managed to deal with it until this week. Not only had I been drinking during the weekend which made my anxiety worse but I went for a long walk on Tuesday and when I came back I began to seriously worry how my heart was beating fast, to the point where my anxiety convinced me that it will never go back down to its healthy rate. I felt so weird and scared at the same time. My heart rate did go back to around 70-80 beats when I convinced myself it was all anxiety but this seriously left me hopeless, depressed and unable to do anything that raises my heart rate because of this. Can the mind really do this? Can it make my heart stay beating fast?

I'm super frightened! This mainly happens during the day and I do feel more relaxed at night but now I'm think my days are numbered because of this. :'( Any help? Thanks

Hi there

I had paramedics out about 2 months ago with the same thing they said they will only be more concerned if it’s 180bpm or over but I had this years ago and still get it and I’m still here.. when we get anxious our heart beats 3 times as much because our body’s sense the fear it beats a lot faster I went on propranolol beta blockers to calm mine down...but if you been drinking that will speed it up anyway if you’re not sure go get checked out just for peace of mind but I’m sure you’re just fine.. anxiety has so many physical symptoms it’s hard to believe it’s anxiety... your days aren’t numbered just yet you’ve got a whole life to live...health anxiety is controlling because we battle with ourselves everyday but please remember one thing you are not alone in this we are all hear to listen and be around for you

Take care

Nat

Thank you so much for your kind words! xxx

To be honest I do think a lot of this is the stress put on by COVID and lockdown. I don't think I'd be suffering this way if it wasn't for all that. And it seems the stress has caused more anxiety. Thankfully I'm aware of this so it has provided a bit of comfort.

I've been having the same issue. I've had anxiety over my heart and I have been doing some drinking and unhealthy eating which makes it a lot worse.

Ive noticed that once I stopped exercising every day my anxiety slowly got worse as well. I am going to work on doing light exercises every day.

Youre not alone. Hang in there!
