I take it for peripheral neuropathy (nerve pain) in lower legs and feet. Can't say it helps with PN but it helps me relax ....and if I take before bed time helps me sleep.

So pleased to hear that. Having had three back operations I was prescribed morphine patches which I have now come off. Pregabolin does make me dozy but I agree it helps you sleep although doesn't help the pain How many do you take and what dosage. Mine are

100mg and am down to two a day. How long have you been taking them? Are they something you can take long term? Fear that doctor's often tell you what you want to hear.

Sorry to bombard you with questions

I have been taking for 2 years. At the moment I am prescribed two 50 mg daily but most days I take only one and sometimes try to do without that but I'm not ready yet! I was up to 100mg twice daily but that made me like one of the walking dead and no use for pain so agreed with doc to 50 mg. I think it can be taken long term and in my experience most docs will (within reason) prescribe what is necessary to keep you away from them. I confess I juggle around with meds. and self prescribe if I can afford. I've been told that tramadol is what is best for neuropathic pain but that would have to be agreed with doc as it's a stronghish opiate

Thank you for your reply. That is most helpful. I am now trying to cope with one 100mg daily but with lockdown the mental side is becoming a problem. Don't know if pregabalin helps but does take away the anxiety

Don't know it it's true or not when I first raised dose to 100 mg my gp said that most people found it helped more to take in two 50 mg doses (morn & night)so that's what I do, if I don't take the morning dose and feel especially wound up at night I take 100 mg at night to relax me. To be absolutely honest I regret starting the drug and only did so on one person's say-so that it was a big help to her...silly me!

Can I ask why you regret taking the drug? There appears to be few side effects if you take it at night and people say you can take it long term

I am taking for peripheral neuropathy in lower legs and feet. Only split dose because gp recommended. but I very rarely take am dose and only take pm one to help me sleep!

I stopped taking Pregabalin ages ago , even though I am on Zomorph and Oramorph, I have cut the Zomorph to a minimum and started back on the Pregabalin but am going to ask to come off them again as they make me sleepy! And my only enjoyment is when I am able to go out in my car (I am diagnosed Agoraphobic as I have panic attacks when outside, but i don't know how I can be Agoraphobic if I feel so relaxed just sitting in my car? I might even drive it again one day as its always Taxed Moted and insured! 1986 and still not got 32k on the clock. ) I have been pushing myself to go out to the garden,

I agree that pregabalin does help with anxiety and relaxes you even though it makes you dozy. Have not come across the other medications you mention but they sound morphine based. Was on fentanyl patches which were morphine based but have now come off them since the pain has eased. Sorry to hear you are unable to go out. Keep trying

I take 100mg morning and night for anxiety. Cant say it does much- I am extremely tired most the time, whether that's pregabalin or one of my other meds who knows

Hello Kaytee

I think pregabalin does make you dozy and lethargic I also take 100mg at night mainly because it helps me sleep and am prepared to put up with the side effect. Just wondered how long people stay on them
