Mason. Yep. I get Dizzy spells, especially when I stand if I've been sitting and the exhaustion is constant. I've had a number of operations which has left me unable to exercise like I used to and blame this. Small tasks, events, social events cause me extreme Anxiety now which is making me retreat to the TV and bed and feel like life is no longer worth the bother. Relationships, Family and Work all gone downhill. I no longer recognise myself. Apathy has set in and it an effort to keep going. I have a number of non viable health issue. Can't recall last enjoyable day. Don't want to be around people, as misery loves company and I don't want to be that person. Work, people and Humour always kept me right, I no longer have these. I'm need other people and a laugh but it's difficult to reboot your life as a 53 year old single Male. People can think your odd. A few years of health setbacks has left my life empty but I'm not a moaner, just a different person than 10 years ago due to life unforseen events. I'm one of many I should think.

Do you take any medication

Could it be the sleep depravation due to stress that's catching up with you?

Are you able to rest for two days?

Drink plenty of water.

Try catch up on some sleep?

I don't think you take much medication but if taking something new - could it be a side effect?

I understand that the higher doses of Co-codamol can cause a 'spaced- out" feeling.

Amytryptiline can cause drowsiness at the beginning.

Actually, my husband is doing OK on the Amytryptiline.

How is your pain now, as stress and tension will surely exacerbate it?

Are you just taking the paracetamols and Ibuprofen? Or did you try some co-codamol?

If you do decide to start the Amytryptiline that your doctor prescribed I would suggest - drink plenty of water and eat well the day you start and plan an early night. Preferably when you don't have plans to travel early the next morning. The Amytryptiline should help you to sleep. If it leaves you drowsy the next morning it won't matter if you don't have to be anywhere, you can just rest.

I'm OK thanks, just had a rough couple of months with symptoms - including the dreaded facial pain! I'm trying to get a few things done but, of course, not long before feet and neck pain make it impossible to carry on! So resting just now.

It's so important to drink plenty of water. Really can help.

x

Glad your husband is doing well, I've had a bad week with the facial pain, I do take just paracetamol and use my wheat bag, I didn't know you had the facial pain do you get it in your teeth and back of your eyes it's horrible x

He still gets pain but the pain meds help a bit. The pain kept him awake all night but the Amytryptiline gives him some sleep.

My recent facial pain was more in the cheek bone area, mainly left sided. Also generalised aching pain jaws & side of face to the extent I had to stop singing the hymn in Church.

Sometimes side of head /just below forehead , sort of side of eyes but not behind , no. Just now it's like a numbness wearing off down the left side of face / cheek and nose.

I was sent to Oral Surgeon a few years ago who did a CT scan (which I didn't want, wanted MRI).

There was nothing shown up in the jaw in the scan, no TMJ, just showed up thd old nose injury and narrowing in nose.

I had wanted to be referred to a Neurologist not Oral Surgeon but the GP at the time refused.

As I do have very severe neck conditions. So some of the pain maybe related to the nerves being pinched / trapped.

The Oral Surgeon just discharged me without referring me on.

Are you sure there isn't any problem with any of your teeth? Do you get regular dental check ups?

Have you had a recent eye test?

Masom profile image
Masom in reply to Mary-intussuception

No nothing wrong with my teeth ear nose and throat diagnosed the midfacial pain I get dizziness with it

Mary-intussuception profile image
Mary-intussuception in reply to Masom

Did they say this condition causes pain in the teeth and behind eyes too?

Would it be worth having both a Dental check up and an Eye test? Don't know if you had any recently.

Would you consider trying the ibuprofen? One or two x 200mg with food. If you take them about 20 - 30 minutes after your paracetamol they should work well together. Just for occasional use? One or two days as I know you don't like using meds - but you are in pain.

If you don't want to try the Amytryptiline then I would suggest taking some ibuprofen with your last food of the evening or a milky drink then paracetamol half- hour before bed. Should help.

If 2 or 3 good night's sleep doesn't help then contact your doctor again? However, they would probably just ask you to try the Amytryptiline.

As my husband said, we are not all the same. Some people get on with them, others don't like them.

I'm in a lot of pain today

Try the hot towel round your neck and relax in a comfy chair for at least ten minutes. If you've eaten then take 2 x 200mg Ibuprofen as you put the towel in the tumble dryer. If it's at least 4 hours since your last paracetamol then take 2 of them also. By the time the towel is ready (about 5 to 10 minutes) the tablets should be starting to work.

If you haven't eaten try rubbing some ibuprofen gel or Voltorol into your neck instead of taking ibuprofen tablets.

This will help.

Hope your pain goes and leaves you in peace x

Hi Mary hope your both alright, any solutions for sinus relief as I suffer with that too x

Mary-intussuception profile image
Mary-intussuception in reply to Masom

How for you feel about steam inhalations?

Protect the eyes with eye mask or cloth or bandage tied round.

Put 2 or 3 drops Olbas Oil in small bowl boiled water, cover head and bowl with towel and inhale.

Another treatment is warm salt water - I'm not keen on this - taken up nostrils and spit out from back of mouth.

If your sinusitis is really bad then you could try asking your GP for Antibiotics but it's not easy to get them these days , even if you need them. The main things to do are to keep the head warm, avoid cold and damp and drink plenty fluids.

My sinusitis was so bad in the past that my head was heavy, felt like lead.

Hi Masom,

I was going to ask you if you wanted to talk about what's been happening over the last 3 years (or more) but realised I wouldn't have time to reply then. Went to bed early last night, but still tired most of today!

I'm from Wales.

I'll send a pm.
